Introduction
I'm a Greek-American on my mother's side born and raised around Athens. We came to live in upstate NY when I was 8, but now my parents have moved back to Kalyvia. I'm a fine artist and have my own decorative painting business with my husband.
What do you love about Greece/Greek Culture?
Everything...the people, the food, the history, my family. The longer I'm away from Greece the harder it is for me to be away. Even though my family moved to NY early on in my life everything Greek continued to remain in our everyday lives.

Yes, I attended the Greek Exhibit at the Olympic Tower. It was a good event. I met some interesting people.
Why are you interested in our group?
It has been 9 years since I've been to Greece. Even though I've lived in NY for most of my life now I still feel an intense longing to stay connected with the Greek community and brush up on my now rusty Greek and help my husband learn it!
What level of Greek do you speak?
Intermediate, I think. All I know is that the more I speak it the better it gets. Unfortunately, I didn't go to Greek school when I came to the states so I know that I'm at a beginnner level with the reading and writing.

With this meetup, I meet several people who filled me in on the group and made me feel welcome. I'm also looking forward to participating in the future language groups so I can brush up on my rusty Greek and meet people I can converse with in Greek occassionally.
