Yiassas! Hope our MeetUp parea is having a good Mother's Day.
We had a very nice MeetUp last month, with 8 folks going to Taverna Cretekou in Old Town. The food there is pretty good, but the vibe created by the live music and the number of Greeks who dine at that restaurant makes the Taverna Cretekou a great MeetUp spot.
Our next Greek Language MeetUp, set for Thursday, May 28th at 7:30 pm, should be just as successful. In an effort to satisfy both our DC and northern Virginia constituencies our next MeetUp is set for Cava on Capitol Hill. Some of you may have visited Cava's original location in Rockville, or have bought some of their products for sale at Whole Foods (the tzitziki is a little too dilly for me, but I recommend their Crazy Feta with jalepanos).
For more on Cava visit: http://dc.cavamezze.c...
And don't forget about St. Sophia's Spring Greek Festival, which is this weekend, May 15-17th. Once again, my kids and I will be working at Grill II - featuring calamari, souvlaki and that epic Spartan favorite, the feta burger - on Sunday the 17th. We'll probably go there for dinner on Friday the 15th.
Finally, remember that on Saturday at 10 am you can listen to Radio Olympus on WFED, am 1500. The radio show is sponsored by St. Katherine's in Falls Church and is the mid-Atlantic's only Greek radio show. For more info you can visit DC Greeks at http://dcgreeks.com/e... or go to http://www.federalnew...
Yiassas. Hope to see you at the next MeetUp at Cava or at Grill II at Saint Sophia. Nas'te kala! - Athan
